Heal Your Broken Heart

April 12, 2019

Have you been suffering from a broken heart?

Everyone, at one point or another, experiences the pain of having a broken heart. This is something that is common to men and women all over the world. Though the causes or reasons are vastly different, the resulting feeling is the same.

The feeling that comes from having a broken heart is not at all desirable. There is a heaviness on your chest, your mood grows dim, your will diminishes and your spirit is dampened. Your attention may often get divided and you can have difficulty remaining focused. Some people even manifest their pain physically as a result. Loss of appetite, insomnia, headache and muscle pain are just some of the physical effects that can come with it.

What do you do when you have a broken heart? Unlike other physical pains, a broken heart is something that cannot be healed that easily. You may know the symptoms; you can even self-diagnose, but it is difficult to self-medicate. Thankfully, we have a Healer in Christ Jesus who we can turn to in order to mend our hearts and make them whole once more.

The Bible says:

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,

And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Psalm 34:18 NKJV

The Lord understands the pain of heartbreak more than you realize. He went through the same pain when He endured His Crucifixion. His beloved people turned against Him, humiliated Him, tortured Him, and degraded Him until the very end. If you think having your heart broken by one person whom you loved and trusted is tough, think of all the people who have broken/continue to break God’s heart because of their transgressions! God knows your pain. And He is there waiting to heal your heart and give you peace.

Recite this prayer:

“Dear God, come heal my broken heart. Show me the way to overcome this pain through the grace of your most Holy Spirit. You alone can lift me up in this time of sorrow. Amen.”
