Dealing with a Major Decision

August 14, 2019

When you have a major decision in front of you, what do you do?

Before making any major decision, people often seek help from outside sources. We do this to prevent ourselves from making a mistake. We acknowledge that we are human and that no matter how intelligent or wise we may have become, we still do not know everything.

Where do you go when you need some advice in your life? Some people immediately gravitate toward the ones who are closest to them – spouse, friends, parents, siblings or other family members. Others go to figures of authority in their lives – bosses, mentors, leaders, etc.

This shows the importance of having a good network of support in your life. God has placed and assigned certain people to help you and guide you in your daily living. Whenever you are faced with a major decision, the best thing to do first is to come before the Lord.

The Bible says in James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

God is the true source of wisdom. He has all the wisdom we need. All we have to do is to call out His name and immerse ourselves in prayer, asking for wisdom to help us make the right decision.

The Lord gives wisdom liberally, but one should always ask with faith and trust in Him. A person should never doubt, because someone who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” – James 1:6

As Christians, we are blessed with the grace of knowing God and being able to come to Him for guidance in our decisions. Heavenly wisdom is given freely by God and enters our life through different ways. All that is required is our faith in Him.
