The Role of the Holy Spirit in Our Lives

August 31, 2017

When you’re about to make a decision, is there something whispering to you saying what you must do? And when you’re about to commit sin, is there something that prevents you from doing it? Do you even know what that is? Or who that is?

That is the Holy Spirit, who is part of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God within us.

Here are some definitions of the Holy Spirit from the Bible.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

It is the Holy Spirit who helps us to remember all of the commitments of God, to prevent us from committing sin, to let God work within us. It manifests in our lives and leads us to look at what God is empowering us to do. The Holy Spirit can do more through us, more than we could do by ourselves.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

We can ask the Holy Spirit to help us in times of need — when we’re having a battle between right or wrong, when we don’t know what to do, or when we are finding it hard to do what is right. The Holy Spirit can talk to us, speak to us and dwell within us.

Always pray for the Holy Spirit to be with you every day.  Whatever the Holy Spirit wants you to do, believe that it is what God wants you to do. They are one. The Holy Spirit is one essence, one power and one God that will lead us to salvation and to live with Him forever.

Always remember that the Holy Spirit will guide us into Jesus’ truth, direct our steps, give us spiritual gifts, empower us, and help us to be with Him after our life here on earth.
