The Importance of Discipleship

June 1, 2017

If you are already a Christian, I have a question for you. How did you know about Jesus Christ? Who told you that you can be saved through Him? Is there someone who helped you to know more about Jesus Christ and helped you to repent and become a child of God?

If your answer is yes, you are now what we call a disciple. A disciple is a follower of Jesus Christ and the process of following Him is called discipleship. Being a disciple, you’re not merely a follower; you owe to share what you have and let other people know Him as well. Discipleship is a must for us. It is like good news that need to be shared, something that will make people believe that truly God is existing. The light will shine on people who will know about it. Spreading the good news and leading them to become Christlike will change our community. At the same time, we are honoring our Father God.

Matthew 28:20 And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

This is the promise of Jesus Christ that we can rely on. Until the very end, He will be with us. Surely if God is for us, who can be against us? It is definitely a great blessing, the one we all longed for.

How to start our discipleship

Discipleship is the most needed ministry in a church. It is hard work, but God doesn’t expect us to be perfect. The important thing is for people to see that God is in your life and for you to be a good example to them.

John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples: if you love another.

The essence of discipleship is LOVE; this is the only thing you need and the rest will follow. You should love the Lord in order to make disciples.

Are you willing to share the good news and spread love for Jesus Christ? Let’s make it happen. Together, we can do it better.
