Build Your House on the Rock

May 27, 2020

We never know when a crisis will hit us. Many people have a tendency to simply live in the present without thinking of what’s going to happen in the future. Then, when problems arise, they don’t know what to do because they have no preparation for it.

As Christians, we are truly blessed because we have God to guide us. He brings us wisdom and guidance through His word. The Bible says:

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

-Matthew 7:24-26 (NKJV)

We are given God’s word, but it is not enough that we just hear it. We should also act in accordance to what we hear. Jesus likened this to a house that is built on the rock and a house that is built on the sand. Hearing without action is like a house built on the sand that can easily have the threat of being destroyed. On the other hand, if you hear God’s word and put it into action, you build your house on the rock, which has a strong foundation that can withstand any oncoming crisis.

In the physical world, there are many things that promise to safeguard our future. We can choose to invest in insurance plans, financial plans, retirement plans, etc. These are good, but our obedience to God is the best investment that we can make.

Build your house on the rock by combining hearing God’s word with actionGod controls all things and He can turn the tide even in the hardest of all crises.
