A Healthy Mind

Healthy Mind is something that God has given to us.

Health, in its simplest definition, is the state of being free from illness or injury. Although it is mostly associated with the physical aspect, health equally refers to a person’s mental condition as well.

There is much said today concerning how to improve our health by developing habits of optimism, whether dealing with a difficult medical diagnosis or a conflict at work. One way is to practice positive actions that will serve as an antidote to pessimism and discouragement. It is significant for everyone to have a healthy mind in order to keep themselves on track.

How to achieve a healthy mind in Christ?

A healthy mind can be achieved through a lot of ways. First is by releasing stress. People can release stress by exploring different activities that may bring them joy, gratitude, love and fulfillment. Second is by listening to inspirational or relaxing music. For some, listening to music takes them to a world without any struggles, where they feel free. But the most important method is through simply talking to God. Giving all worries and doubts to Him will bring peace of mind to anyone seeks it.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22). God wants people to lean on Him for support; He will carry all burdens and keep people from slipping. God is always listening to our prayers. He greatly loves us and does not forget the sacrifice of Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”  (John 3:16). This verse shows the love of God to people. Jesus sacrificed for us. He is the source of our hope. He can fill our hearts and minds with peace.

Remember: Trust in the Lord, do good and commit your way to the Lord. That is the formula to a healthy mind.

Forgive, as the Lord Forgives Us

We often hear forgive, as the Lord forgives us. What does that really mean? We need to be open as Christ is open to us.

Forgiveness is a decision to release feelings of resentment toward a person who gave you pain, regardless of whether they actually deserve it or not.

Forgiving people isn’t something you do for the person who wronged you; it’s something you do for yourself. By forgiving you are accepting the reality of what happened and finding a way to forget it. Furthermore, there’s a lot of advantages forgiveness may bring. Forgiveness can lead to a healthier relationship, greater spiritual and psychological well-being, lower blood pressure and stronger immune system. Also, it can make people be at peace. Forgiveness is not accepting the bad done to you, it is to love the person who gave or gives you pain. As the Lord commanded us:

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Everyone is a sinner and needs forgiveness from the Lord. In order to obtain that, everyone should forgive as well. People should love one another as they love themselves.

How to forgive?

If you decide that you are willing to forgive, first, find a better place to be alone with your thoughts. Second, don’t let anger control you to the point that your actions will be affected. Lastly, talk to God and ask God to remove all the pain in your heart. Bring everything to God – your doubts, worries, fears and pains. Let God do the rest.
